How to Add Your Custom Tokens in MetaMask
MetaMask, the most popular Ethereum wallet, now allows users to add custom tokens to their wallets, particularly those that are ERC-20 compatible.
The wallet commonly shows ERC-20 tokens, which are the wallet's standard tokens. Users can now add their own custom tokens to the slew of new bitcoin tokens being released.
However, when investigating new tokens and eventually integrating them into MetaMask, it's best to proceed with caution. Let's have a look at how custom tokens can be introduced to the MetaMask wallet on that note.
How To Add Custom Tokens To MetaMask
Users should do the following to add ERC-20-compliant custom tokens to their MetaMask wallet:
1. Search for your custom token on Etherscan. Alternatively, go to the Etherscan website for your unique token.
2. Select and copy the custom token's contract address from the Profile Summary section.
3. Select Add Token when you return to MetaMask. Copy and paste the contract's address. The token symbol and other characteristics will then be added to MetaMask.
4. Check to check if the custom token has been added to MetaMask by refreshing your wallet.
5. In MetaMask's settings, you may also enable the Auto Token Detection option. Before switching the toggle, go to Settings, then Experimental.
Finally, CoinGecko may be able to assist you with adding custom tokens to MetaMask.
If your MetaMask is linked to the price tracker, go to the custom token's page and click the MetaMask logo next to the contract address. A pop-up will appear, asking if you wish to add the token to your MetaMask.
