The decision is unsurprising considering the Tesla CEO's unwavering support for the crypto sector, particularly Dogecoin, over the previous year.
He has promoted the meme token to his Twitter followers at various times and has hinted at moving the currency forward on multiple occasions.
As a result, his tweets and mentions of the currency have had a favorable impact on its price movement. His impact on the Doge price can be seen in his most recent tweet, which stated that Starling memberships might one day be paid using the meme currency.
The news caused a temporary 10% increase in the price of the token. A previous mention of the currency triggered a pump that lasted just around 23 seconds.

The Price of Dogecoin (DOGE)
Despite Elon Musk's beneficial impact on Dogecoin's price performance, the joke token is one of the crypto assets that has been struck the worst in the current bear market.
Within the last 30 days, the meme coin has lost almost 40% of its value, coinciding with Terra's environmental collapse.
The asset has lost over ten percent of its value in the previous seven days. With a market valuation of over $10.5 billion, it is still the most popular meme coin on the market.
