When no other significant manufacturer was even considering the category, Mahindra began offering EVs. The company was on the path to building a solid reputation in the EV industry and marketed vehicles like Reva and eVerito. The impetus, though, was gone. A company that had spent so much time developing EVs and was anticipated to be the market leader saw its sales decline. Mahindra was forced to reconsider its whole business plan as a result. And the brand did just that. After much consideration, the firm debuted the eKUV100, eXUV300, and Funster ideas at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company also disclosed its ambitions to commercialize "Born Electric" EVs. Everything about Born Electric EVs has been created from the ground up with an electric vehicle in mind. What do we now know about these brand-new Mahindra electric vehicles, and how will they impact the market? all that is written here.

Mahindra’s Born EV Plan

Mahindra teased its three new future EVs in a video it uploaded in February. However, the "Born Electric" idea was to apply to these three EVs. The Born Electric business would create powertrains, internal battery packs, and electric platforms (Born Electric Platform) for the company. Mahindra offers a variety of battery packs for these EVs as well as for ICE vehicles that will be converted to electric vehicles using its Electric Scalable Modular Architecture.

For these EVs, Mahindra is putting an emphasis on design and human intervention. Recently, the company has teamed up with Volkswagen to further its electric vehicle goals. Although the transaction is anticipated to be finalized by the end of this year, both businesses have signed a collaborating agreement for the time being in order to "assess the breadth of collaboration".  Mahindra and Volkswagen will collaborate to create Born Electric EVs. Mahindra will receive the German automaker's MEB electric parts (electric motors, battery systems, and battery cells). Utilizing the MEB platform has the advantage of enabling automakers to swiftly and affordably expand their lineup of electric cars.

The three Born Electric EVs from Mahindra will be unveiled the following month. Furthermore, it is said that the concepts on display are the final designs that will be put into production.

The Mahindra XUV400 has been in development for a while and will mostly premiere this year. Based on the basic chassis of the Ssangyong Tivoli, this electric vehicle will be around 4.2 meters long. It is anticipated to have a number of components to effectively compete with the current opponents. You may read our in-depth article on the XUV400 by clicking the link provided below.

In terms of competitors, we anticipate the XUV400 to go up against the Hyundai Kona, MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV Prime, and Tata Nexon EV Max.
