Top 10 Cars Sold In H1 2022 – WagonR, Nexon, Creta, Punch, Baleno
Maruti Suzuki's WagonR was the most popular passenger car in the country during the first half of this calendar year with a total of 1,13,407 units sold as opposed to 94,839 units during the same period in 2021, a YoY quantity increase of 19.5%. The entry-level hatchback also received a slight upgrade earlier this year.
The Swift was the second-most popular car in India between January and June 2022, selling 91,177 units compared to 1,02,206 units during the same period in 2021, with a YoY negative quantity growth of 10.7%. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire finished in third place with a total of 85,929 units compared to 70,991 units in H1 2021 and an optimistic sales growth of 12% YoY.
The Tata Nexon saw the largest YoY sales growth among the top ten as 82,770 pieces were registered vs 46,247 products from January to June 2021, an increase of over 79%. With a cumulative home completion of 74,892 things toward 93,823 items in H1 2021, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno came in sixth.

This resulted in a YoY sales decrease of 20.1%, while the Ertiga MPV finished in sixth position with a total of 68,922 units as opposed to 49,900 items during the same period last year with a YoY sales increase of 38.1%. The Maruti Suzuki Alto is getting a significant upgrade next month as it transitions to a new technology built on the Heartect platform.
It reported 68,680 unit gross sales in the first half of 2022 compared to 85,616 items during the same period in 2021, a YoY quantity decline of 19.7%. The Hyundai Creta saw an almost flat growth in the first half of the year, going from 67,421 things posted to 67,283 items with a 0.2% YoY growth. Early 2023 is when the midsize SUV segment leader is expected to undergo a makeover.
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco reported a total of 60,705 pieces vs 56,901 items in H1 2021 with a YoY sales increase of 6.6%. The Tata Punch wowed by placing ninth with 60,932 things.
