Volvo XC40 Recharge: Design
The Volvo XC40 Recharge is built on the same CMA architecture as its ICE sister and comes in just one model. The XC40 Recharge receives a sharper redesigned front bumper, new angular LED headlights, trademark Thor's Hammer LED Daytime Running Lights, and other upgrades to set itself apart from the standard vehicle.
With a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center and Google Assistant built in, recycled carpets and upholstery, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, an air purifier, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with memory for the driver seat, Harman Kardon audio, wireless smartphone integration, etc., the interior boasts a minimalist design.
Regarding security, the Volvo XC40 Recharge is equipped with seven airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, TPMS, a 360-degree camera system, HDC, and various ADAS features, such as lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation.
Volvo XC40 Recharge: Powertrain
The vital performance is provided by a twin electric motor configuration, one of which is positioned on each axle, thereby converting it to an AWD electric SUV. It produces 660 Nm of peak torque and 402 horsepower of total power. The XC40 Recharge, according to the Swedish luxury automaker, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4.9 seconds.
A one-pedal mode for optimum regenerative braking and the option to modify steering weight through a touchscreen menu is further standout features. The five-seater is advertised to have a driving range of about 418 kilometers on a single charge thanks to a 79 kWh Li-ion battery pack. Additionally, it supports DC fast charging, and it takes just 28 minutes to recharge from 10% to 80%. Volvo offers an 11 kW wall box charger and three-year standard warranty along with a service package for three years, digital services for four years, and a battery warranty of eight years.
