The next generation Alto will be introduced ahead of the Grand Vitara midsize SUV next month, which is presently being developed by Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL). The brand had a busy year in 2022, launching important vehicles including the Ertiga, the new Brezza, the facelifted XL6, and the facelifted Baleno, among others.

The Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Nissan Kicks are just a few of the vehicles the Grand Vitara will compete against when it is sold through Nexa's upscale stores. The five-seater will have a dedicated EV-only mode and be powered by a mild-hybrid and a robust hybrid petrol engine with a claimed industry-best mileage number of close to 28 kmpl.

The SUV will be the brand's domestic flagship model and the most technologically and feature-advanced vehicle available. The eagerly anticipated Jimny will be added to the Nexa repertoire at some point in 2019. The lifestyle off-roader may be offered in India-only five-door form.

It will compete with the future five-door Force Gurkha and Mahindra Thar. The largest automaker in the nation is more likely to introduce an SUV coupe built on the Heartect platform of the Baleno before the Jimny arrives. It could also be sold by Nexa, and if so, anticipate a three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to power it.

The tiny SUV coupe, which has been given the internal codename YTB, has already been seen road testing and is anticipated to slot above or slightly above the Baleno and Brezza. According to rumors, the Jimny's seven-seater variant is also in the works and may be based on the Grand Vitara but with a longer wheelbase.

Expect it to be more expensive than the impending Grand Vitara, and anticipate that it will have cosmetic changes to set it apart from its five-seater brother. The Grand Vitara is reported to share the same feature set, technological capabilities, and engine choices. It will compete against the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and a few Mahindra XUV700 models.
