Ducati sales down globally, but Reports Record Revenue and Profit in 2021
Despite the persistent supply issues, Ducati saw a rise in revenue and operating profits in the first half of 2022. The Italian manufacturer's sales increased by 5.4% to 542 million Euros (about Rs. 4,410 crores), while its operating profit increased by 14.8% to 68 million Euros (Rs 553 crore).
Bestsellers include the Multistrada V4, Monster, and Scrambler.
Ducati sells mostly in Italy; sales figures for India are unavailable.
Bookings rise in comparison to last year despite supply shortages
And yet, despite selling fewer motorcycles than during the same period last year, this is the case. Ducati sold 33,265 bikes in the first half of 2022, which is a decrease of 3.6% from the 34,515 units sold in the first half of 2021.
With 6,139 units sold, the Multistrada V4 line was the manufacturer's top seller, followed by the freshly updated Monster with 4,776 units and the Scrambler 800 line with 3,999 units. Later this year, at the EICMA trade exhibition, the newest version of the Ducati Scrambler will be unveiled.
Increase in dealerships and bookings
With 6,028 motorcycles sold on its home ground in Italy, Ducati had the greatest performance. Germany, France, and North America sold 5,239, 3,745, and 2,647 pieces respectively, behind Italy in terms of sales. With 2,411 units shipped, China saw a 12 percent increase in sales. The sales data for Ducati for the same time period in India, however, are still unavailable to us. There are presently 797 Ducati stores located in 90 different countries, 21 of which have just been inaugurated in the past six months.
Ducati's CEO, Claudio Domenicali, said: "The tremendous discontinuity in the world of logistics and supply persists despite the robust demand from devotees, as seen by the order portfolio, which at the conclusion of the first half is up 86% over the same time in 2021. Nevertheless, given the environment in which we operate, we were able to achieve commendable results, particularly in terms of revenue, which was the highest ever recorded in the first six months of the year."
